A. Making sure media mangers do not change the photo too much to when it's not portraying the 'truth' anymore. Also doctoring images has been around for as long as the camera was invented.
B. Washington Post: has very strict guidelines on how to shoot and edit their photos.
New York Times: also has very strict rules on editing photos, photojournalists have to turn in all of their proofs and also their final portfolio in order for the photo to be used.
C. I think when editing a photo you could change the brightness and it would be okay. I also think you could change the background if it's just a solid color not trees or things that make the photo more important and display the 'truth' better.
