Dispatch Issue #4 Writing

Story #1
Construction on MoPac is said to be finished in about 3 years, I will be preparing to graduate. The goal of the project is to extend the MoPac main lanes, improve intersections, and improve bike lanes along with crosswalks. Close to Bowie there have been several trees cut down, and people are saying it looks horrible, I agree.

Who- TxDot, construction workers, government.
What- Improvements being made to MoPac, one of the biggest highways in the state.
When- It is going to end in 2021
Where- Construction is happening on MoPac near Bowie, intersecting Slaughter Ln.
Why- To improve intersections, main lanes, and bike lans.
How- Construction workers are breaking down cement and trees to make more room for lanes and better intersections, along with bike lanes and crosswalks.
Who was quoted in the story- "Everyone's already going slower, the lanes are tiny, and the entirety of the process is extremely time consuming" - Emily Lawson.
The quote above is the strongest quote in the story in my opinion, because it's the one everyone relates to the best.
The leading sentence make me want to keep reading so I could find out what was happening.


Story #2
This story is about Bowie Mountain Biking, Austin Buttlar, is the featured biker in the story. He is on the varsity biking team as a junior, that is impressive. As an upperclassman, he likes to see the younger boys bike, to see which ones are good or bad.

Who- Austin Buttlar
What- A junior on the varsity biking team explains what it's like to be on the team.
When- Friday, Febuary 9.
Where- Bowie
Why- to explain to other bowie students what the mountain biking team is all about.
How- Austin has practice 6 out of 7 days of the week, that is how he trains and gets better.
Who was quoted in the story- Austin Buttlar was quoted in the story.
Strongest Quote- "When I'm biking, it gives me the opportunity to take my mind off things and focus on the trail and the nature around" this quote appeared in the middle, not a part of the story.
The lead sentence made me want to keep reading, because it was a good hook.


Story #3
Whataburger has hired an officer due tot he chaos after football games. This is probably a good decision, there are so many high schoolers that go there after the games. After a fight between a customer and student, this was a good call from whataburger.

Who- Students and WhataBurger workers
What- The resturant has hired a knew officer
When- There is no date saying when the officer was hired
Where-Whataburger
Why- The officer was hired to ensure the students and customers safety
How- They hired the security officer
Who was quoted i n the story- Levi Ander says "That guy is super chill, he's awesome."
Strongest Quote- "He helped me jump my friends car after a game at like 12:30 in the morning."
The lead sentence made me want to keep reading because I wanted to know why the officer was hired.
